In July 1999, MCP sponsored a management buyout of Technal,
S.A., the leading aluminum building systems company in France,
with operations also in England, Spain and Portugal. The company
designs, extrudes, finishes and distributes aluminum building
systems, including window systems, doors, curtain walls, conservatories,
shop fronts and partitions, to over 3,000 customers. Key customer
categories include major contractors, medium to large size
fabricators, installers and local tradesmen. MCP and management
acquired the business from Alcan Aluminum Limited.
After two years of successful ownership by MCP, Technal was
sold in January 2002 to Hydro Building Systems, part of the
Hydro Aluminum Extrusions division of Norsk Hydro ASA.
